NBPD Receives $26K Grant for Video Equipment and More
The North Branford Police Department has updated its video equipment and is awaiting new weapons thanks to a state grant.

Â
Police departments across the state were informed that they will soon be required to videotape interrogation interviews but with the new requirement came state grant money that not only allowed the North Branford Police Department to update its video equipment, but it ordered new weapons as well.
The State of Connecticut’s Office of Policy and Management, Criminal Justice Police and Planning Division awarded the NBPD $26,568.20 on Feb. 7, which was signed by Interim Town Manager Bonnie Therrien on Feb. 21.

With the grant, the NBPD ordered two cameras, a desktop computer and monitor, laptop, interview software, router, printer and other accessories for the required interview recording updates.
With the remaining grant money, the NBPD was able to order new weapons for each officer and the administration, including 25 GLOCK model 22 handguns, each with tactical lights and level three holsters, and five GLOCK model 27 handguns. The cost of each of the guns was $35 after the trade-in value of the force’s current weapons was applied.
