North Branford Girls Softball Has a Great Season

The state champions for 10U finished fourth in a regional tournament.

The North Branford 10U Little League softball state champions won two games en route to a fourth-place finish in the Girls Little League 10U Eastern Regional tournament in Old Forge, Pa.

Coach Russ Senerchia’s team advanced to the semifinals in the nine-team event with wins over Vermont, 9-0, and Maine, 11-1.

In the semis, North Branford fell to eventual champion New Jersey, 13-3, before dropping a tough 4-3 decision to Rhode Island in the third-place game. North Branford left the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth against Rhode Island.

Supplying the offensive punch in the tournament were Kelli Jacobson, Maissa (cq) Caso, Mia DeLoughery and Hanna Senerchia, while Erica Piercey threw complete games in four of her five starts on the mound.
North Branford had advanced to the Eastern Regionals by defeating Madison/Clinton in a best-of-three series for the state title.
