North Branford Passes Resolution Opposing Tolls on State Highways
The Town Council recently voted 6-3 to endorse a resolution against putting tolls on highways in the state of Connecticut.

NORTH BRANFORD, CT - North Branford has joined a growing list of towns in the state that has passed resolutions opposing the installation of tolls on state highways in Connecticut.
At the May 7th Town Council meeting, the council after a lengthy discussion, voted 6-3 to approve a resolution opposing tolls. North Branford joins neighboring Branford, whose Representative Town Meeting recently passed a similar resolution.
Voting in favor of the resolution were Mayor Doody, Deputy Mayor Angeloni, Councilors Candelora, Rose, Viglione and Zampano; opposed were Councilors Diamond, Faughnan and Miller

The resolution reads: "Whereas, many residents of North Branford use Interstates 691, 91, 84 and Route 15 each day for work, family obligations and pleasure to travel to surrounding towns and cities through the region; and
Whereas, the residents of Connecticut deserve the establishment and maintenance of a world class transportation infrastructure, but the costs of implementation of such infrastructure ought not be largely funded by those who can least afford to pay it; and

Whereas, the implementation of tolls will naturally result in added costs for products purchased by residents of North Branford; and
Whereas, road and bridge work costs for construction in Connecticut are the fifth highest in the country, and the administration costs are the highest in the country with no resolve;
Now, therefore, be it resolved the North Branford Town Council opposes the imposition of tols on its residents, and urges its elected representatives in the State Legislature to oppose any measure that would impose tolls on our residents.
