North Branford resident to perform in Quinnipiac University's Production of 'Arms and the Man

Theater for Community at Quinnipiac University will present George Bernard Shaw’s “Arms and the Man,” Nov. 13-16, in the Clarice L. Buckman Theater on the Mount Carmel Campus.

“Arms and the Man” sparkles with wit, irony and delicious satire as Shaw mocks those who naively embrace romantic notions of war and love. Set during the Serbo-Bulgarian War in 1885, the plot centers on the aristocratic, starry-eyed Raina Petkoff, who must choose between two men vying for her affections: the dashingly handsome cavalry officer, Major Sergius Saranoff, and the pragmatic, un-romantic Swiss mercenary, Captain Bluntschli.

The role of Raina Petkoff will be played by Christina Comizio of Vernon, N.J.; Captain Bluntschli will be played by Ryan Sheehan of Fortsdale, Mass.; Sergius Saranoff by Gerard Lisella of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.; Major Petkoff by Zachary Glassman of Suffern, N.Y.; Catherine Petkoff by Sara Detrik of Fairfield; Nicola by William Bomentre of Levittown, Pa.; Louka by Lauren Manna of North Branford; and the role of the Russian officer will be played by Ryan Devaney of Wallingford.

Robert Bresnick, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, will direct and design sound; Tricia Petraven, associate professor of theater, will design the set; costumes will be designed by Hanna Hejmowski, executive assistant to the director of the Central European Institute; Emily Seibert will design the lighting; and Moira Malone, an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, will be the voice and speech coach.

Curtain time is at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 13-15 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 16. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $15 general admission. Reservations and advance purchases can be made at: www.quinnipiac.edu/theater-tickets.
