Opening Day Looms for North Branford High School Teams

NORTH BRANFORD, CT — High school sports practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks and many preseason scrimmages have been played, but the real deal begins Thursday - opening day of the regular season for many varsity teams.

Here are the scheduled opening contests for varsity teams at North Branford High School. For a complete season schedule of Thunderbird varsity, JV and freshman teams, visit the CIAC web site.

• girls volleyball - Thursday, 9/6, vs. Coginchaug, 5:30 p.m.
• girls swimming - Friday, 9/7, vs. East Haven/Wilbur Cross, 4 p.m.
• football - Friday, 9/7, at Granby, 7 p.m.
• field hockey - Saturday, 9/8, vs. Amity Regional, 10:30 a.m.
• girls soccer - Saturday, 9/8, at East Haven, 1 p.m.
• boys soccer - Tuesday, 9/11, at Haddam-Killingworth, 3:45 p.m.
• cross country - Saturday, 9/15, at CT River Valley Invitational, 9:30 a.m.
