Little League players not only celebrated Opening Day of the 2013 season, but a brand new field, too!

Excitement was in the air on April 27 as North Branford Little League celebrated Opening Day. Parents were excited to see their children donning their uniforms – and their brand new purple Opening Day shirts; coaches and players were excited about the start of a new season; and everyone was excited to be able to celebrate on a beautiful new field.

Many special guests were on hand to speak to the players and fans, including Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, State Rep. Vin Candelora, State Senator Ed Meyer and North Branford Mayor Anthony Candelora. Several NBLL board members also spoke with the beauty of the new field as the recurring theme.

Several members of the Wall family sat among the invited guests and were presented with flowers and T-shirts commemorated Opening Day as Edward Wall, the field's namesake, was honored. Edward's son threw out the first pitch.

After the ceremony, players and their families enjoyed food from the concession stand and carnival games, while teams got ready to begin the 2013 season.
