Stomach Bug Still Making Its Rounds at Jerome Harrison

The 24-hour rule is key to stopping the spreading of germs.

Many families at Jerome Harrison Elementary School have been affected by the stomach bug, which has been making its way through the school over the past two weeks.

After her family became ill and she had heard of other JHS families who had gotten the stomach bug twice, Christa Trudeau posted this message on our Facebook page:

Please listen up North Branford Parents of school age children. Please PLEASE keep your children home if they show symptoms of being sick (slight fever, queasy stomach, etc), this stomach bug in the North Branford schools is almost an epidemic. If your child IS sick, for the sake of EVERYONE else, when there fever is gone, or they have thrown up for the LAST TIME, please wait 24 hours before allowing back to activities or school. We do NOT have the luxury of the spring break to "break" the cycle of illness, since our break is now down to 2 days. I don't know what else can be done besides the school being BLEACHED and us all being diligent with manking sure our kids are germ free before returning to the other kids :( I have heard from MANY families who have had the bug (mine included), and some who have now had it TWICE.......something has to be done.

Jerome Harrison's school nurse confirmed the 24-hour rule when it comes to vomiting, diarrhea and/ or a temperature over 100 degrees, saying that children should not return to school until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours.
