TVES Inventors Bring Home State Level Awards

Congratulations to North Branford's youngest inventors who earned awards at the 30th annual Connecticut Invention Convention.


At the end of March, more than 200 students at Totoket Valley Elementary School showcased their inventions at the annual Invention Convention. Of those, 10 were named finalists, earning a trip to represent TVES at the 30th
Annual Connecticut Invention Convention at UConn.

The North Branford students found success at the state level with four coming home with awards, including: 

  • Sophia Anastasia was recognized for her Relaxing Toilet Paper Replacer
  • Joseph Jablonski was recognized for his Perforated Pizza Box
  • Alyssa Kendrick was awarded the ESPN Award (best sports-related invention) for the Perfect Pitch
  • Lucia Pantani was awarded the Microsoft Accessibility Award (Best invention enabling improved lifestyles, living, or access to anything by the disabled) for the Second Hand Leg
"We are so proud of our 10 inventors!," said Librarian Carrie Seiden.

In addition to the four award-winners, the remaining 10 finalists who traveled to UConn were Alex Clinton (Go in the Dark Scooper), Jadon Canelli (Utensil Pre-Cleaner), Patrick Mullen (Shoe Helper), Lia Prato (Hair Bandz), Julianne George (Portable Dog Hammock) and Julia Heffernan (Wet Dry Central Vehicle Vacuum).
