From The Bench: Maruca Boys to Compete at CIAC State Open

Congratulations to North Haven's own Luke and Kyle Maruca who qualified for the state open in the shot put for North Haven's indoor track team. The boys have been playing sports for North Haven from a very young age. They were involved in football from youth program on up to senior year in high school, intramural basketball, and indoor and outdoor track. Both throw the shot put indoors and throw the shot put and discus outdoor. Kyle has set a school record in the discus for outdoor and Luke is close behind. When I asked the brothers about competition both said at the same time that they compete against each other, against other players and in track finally against the tape measure. From the Bench wishes them all the best this Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven where they will compete for the top spot in the state finals and try for a place at The New England Finals.
