Brownies and Daytime Gardeners Collaborate
To Create Woodsy Owl Contest Posters
Daytime Gardeners, Barbara Feinberg and Mary Ellen Proto, met with Brownie Troop #60400, led by Cheryl Soli, and Troop #60387, led by Lisa McCann, to create posters for the National Garden Club Woodsy Owl Poster Contest. The local activity involved the Brownies in learning about pollution, recycling, composting, and reducing waste. The book, The Saved Seed, by Brenda Moore, Jean Ohlmann, and Nancy Hargroves, was read and discussed to help the children become more familiar with the environmental issues. This activity also helps the Brownies earn credits toward their badges.
