Children’s Programs At North Haven Library For July

North Haven Memorial Library announces upcoming children's programs, including Lego Club, Disney Karaoke and more.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven Memorial Library announces the following Children’s Programs that will take place in July. The library is located at 17 Elm Street in North Haven.

CREATIVITY CLUB FOR TWEENS AND TEENS: SHARPIE TIE-DYE

Thursday, July 5 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 10-14 - Bring a plain white t-shirt (pre-washed) in your size OR a plain white tote bag and learn how to use sharpies to tie-dye. Wear old clothes to this event; sharpies will stain. Registration is required.

FAMILY BOARD GAME NIGHT - Thursday, July 5 @ 6:00 p.m.

All Ages - Game On! Tear yourselves away from TV and try some traditional board or card games! Dare to get tangled up in Twister or dabble in Scrabble! Games and light snacks will be provided. One participating family will win a prize from our free raffle drawing! No registration required.

BABY RHYME TIME- Friday, July 6 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 0-18 mos – Take a moment to nurture the bond between caregiver and child and to increase awareness of the child’s development. Our primary focus is the healthy development of infants ages 0-18 months old with an emphasis on language enrichment and pre-literacy skills. No registration is required.

CANVAS CLUB FOR TWEENS AND TEENS - Monday, July 9 @ 6:30 p.m. Ages 10-14 –No painting experience is necessary to join our Canvas Club! See what you can accomplish with a blank canvas, some paint, and your imagination!

Paint and supplies will be provided. Acrylic paint will stain, so please dress in old clothes. Registration is required.

SPECTACULAR SCIENCE - Tuesday, July 10 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 6-10 - Are you curious? This class offers the opportunity to explore simple science themes through the eyes of a scientist. This class will feature a child-friendly experiment through which the children will make simple predictions and test their ideas. Registration is required.

TEDDY BEAR TEA PARTY - Wednesday, July 11 @ 3:30 p.m.

Ages 4 - 8 - Join us for our Teddy Bear Tea Party - dress up your favorite Teddy for Teatime at the library with Miss Katherine. Story, songs and teatime treats for Teddy and owner plus a "beary" special activity. Registration is required.

KRAFTY KIDS – Thursday, July 12 @ 1:30 p.m. Ages 3-6

Join us for stories from awesome authors, songs and a craft to go! Registration is required.

HENNA TATTOO TUTORIAL - Thursday, July 12 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 10-18 - Transform your hand into a work of art using Henna temporary designs! Miss Lindsey will teach you how to apply a design that will last about two weeks on your skin. Henna will permanently stain fabric, so please wear old clothing to this workshop. Registration is required.

LEGO™ CLUB - Thursday, July 12@ 6:30 p.m. Ages 4-12 Drop by and create with LEGO™! We provide the LEGOs™ and you provide the creativity! No registration required.

TODDLER TIME - Friday, July 13 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 1½-2½ - This storytime is for children and their caregiver/ parent. Sing songs, read books and make a craft based on our story. Registration is required.

PICNIC AND PERFORMANCE: LIZ MCNICHOLL - Monday, July 16 @ 7:00 p.m. All Ages - Bring a picnic to the library lawn and enjoy! Remember the good old days when families gathered ‘round to sing & dance as a community? Musicians Liz McNicholl & Lindsey Céitinn are singing some old American favorites. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the library’s community room. No registration required.

TUTU TUESDAY - Tuesday, July 17 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 6mo-3½yr Time for too-too much fun on Tuesday at the Library. If you, your baby or toddler have a tutu (or bow tie), wear it to add to the fun. Enjoy music, dancing, story and playtime. Registration is required.

YARN WRAPPED LETTERS - Tuesday, July 17 @ 3:30 p.m. Ages 9-14 - Come make this cool, crafty wall decoration with nothing more than yarn, cardboard, and the first letter of your name .Registration is required.

DISNEY KARAOKE: FAMILY STYLE - Wednesday, July 18 @ 3:30 p.m.

All Ages – Does your child know every word to Frozen? Moana? Descendants? You probably know them by now too. Bring the whole family for an afternoon of Disney Karaoke! We’ll have a host of songs from Disney classics to sing together as a family or as a solo… we’ll even sing together as a group! Registration is required.

DANCE PARTY - Thursday, July 19 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 12mos-5yr with adult Calling all toddlers and preschoolers! Join us for this loosely structured dance party to burn off some extra energy, sing, dance and play with instruments. Registration is required.

PRESCHOOL POWER STORYTIME - Friday, July 20 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 3-6 - Power up with stories, songs, flannel boards and more that encourage the development of early literacy skills in young children. Registration is required.

PICNIC AND PERFORMANCE: T-BONE - Monday, July 23 @ 7:00 p.m. All Ages Bring a picnic to the library lawn and enjoy! T-Bone will whisk away the audience on a fun-filled tropical adventure through songs, stories, instrument, and games. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the library’s community room. No registration required.

AWESOME ARTISTS - Monday, July 23 @ 3:30 p.m.

Ages 8-12 - Let’s learn about the artist Pablo Picasso. In this program, you will learn about Picasso’s rose and blue periods and create a Picasso inspired pastel drawing. All materials will be provided! Registration is required.

STUFFED ANIMAL STORYTIME & SLEEPOVER - Thursday, July 26 @ 6:00 p.m. - Ages 10 & under

Bring one of your favorite stuffed animals to the library with you to share a special storytime, songs and a craft together! Then, tuck in your stuffed animal so it can have a sleepover with all of its new friends. Come pick them up the next morning (after 11:00 a.m.) and see what shenanigans they got into overnight! Registration is required.

PARACHUTE PLAYTIME - Friday, July 27 @ 10:30 a.m. Ages 2-6 - Get some energy out by shakin’ our parachute. Enjoy classic songs like Wheels on the Bus and Old MacDonald and dance to new favorites! This loosely structured, gross-motor activity class is for children aged 2-6 with an adult. Registration is required.

PICNIC AND PERFORMANCE: AL DeCANT - Monday, July 30 @ 7:00 p.m.

All Ages - Bring a picnic to the library lawn and enjoy! Al DeCant engages the audience in an interactive program of dancing, singing, marching and playing instruments. In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the library’s community room. No registration is required.
