Community Rallies Around North Haven Family After Tragedy

A mother of three was tragically killed after being struck by a car last week in Hamden.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The community is rallying around a North Haven family after a mother of three daughters was tragically killed after being struck by a car while trying to cross the street in Hamden last week. Kristin Wilczynski, 50, was attempting to cross Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Old Dixwell Avenue, when she was struck by an oncoming car at about 6:50 p.m. on July 20, according to police. Wilczynski was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.

Friends have launched a GoFundMe page in support of her husband of 31 years, Ed Wilczynski, and daughters Alyssa, Hailey and Sydney. Kristin Wilczynski was a Branford native and lived in North Haven for more than 20 years and worked at Cblpath in North Haven, according to the page.

“Her passing was completely unexpected and a heartbroken family is left behind,” reads a post on the GoFundMe page. “She leaves behind three beautiful girls, Alyssa, Hailey, and Sydney. More than anything Kristin loved her daughters and wanted them to thrive in every way possible. She has been together with her husband Ed Wilczynski for 31 years. Ed is an amazing dad, but expenses are building up and the family can use all the help they can get in making it through this difficult time. Kristin was previously working as a medical billing and coding specialist at Cblpath here in North Haven. With the loss of her income and extensive funeral and general living costs, we do not want her family to face any more burdens than they have to at this time. Sydney is only 10 years old, and she has many years of school to come including college, which will likely bring about more costs in the future. In the face of such an unexpected tragedy, Kristin’s children deserve the brightest future and all funds raised through this page will go toward the family and any financial burden they may face after this horrible loss. All donations are welcome. Thank you so much for your kindness.”
