Daytime Gardeners Enjoy A Terrific Town Trek II
Daytime Gardeners of North Haven participated in the second annual Town Trek event held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, which was sponsored by The North Haven Magazine. Editor Jill DeChello organized the event that earned funds for the North Haven Community Food Bank. The trek team, called Daytime Gardeners Blossom, was sponsored by Bell Nurseries. The team of 3 garden club members, Walt Brockett, Sally Brockett, and Barbara Feinberg, traveled about town competing in various challenges presented by local businesses and organizations. The challenges were fun and involved various skills such as puzzle assembly, tasting foods, smelling fragrances, identifying car parts, labeling types of pasta, egg toss, identifying people and dogs photos, etc. It was nice to see new businesses and meet new people while working through the challenges.
Jan Meinsen, another member of the Daytime Gardeners, presented a challenge to the teams that required identification of herbs. Team members were allowed to smell and touch the sample herbs, but could not taste them. Jan enjoyed meeting the teams and sharing this activity.
The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of CT, Inc, the New England Garden Clubs, Inc., and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. New members are always welcome. Please contact Daytime Gardeners for more info @ (203) 239-1557.
