Daytime Gardeners of North Haven Learn about Bach Flower Remedies

The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven and guests, were treated to a most informative talk by Linda Myers, Certified Nutritional Counselor, of Thyme & Season Natural Food Market, 3040 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Myers described the capabilities of flower essences discovered by Dr. Edward Bach in England in the 1930's. The flower remedies represent a complete system of healing directed at the personality, mood and emotional outlook of an individual. Dr. Bach was a medical doctor and bacteriologist who gave up his lucrative practice to study the cause of ill health. He believed that illness is the effect of disharmony between body and mind, and that symptoms of an illness are the external expression of negative emotional states. He believed that if a patient's emotional balance was corrected, the body's natural ability to throw off illness would be strengthened.

Behind his cottage in England, Dr. Bach identified 38 essences prepared from the wild flowers of non-poisonous plants, bushes and trees. Each of the remedies is for a specific mental and emotional state, plus one combination used as a rescue remedy for emergency stress situations.

Today, these safe and gentle remedies are used all over the world by medical and health practitioners, receiving thousands of testimonials about the effectiveness of Bach Flower Remedies. The remedies may be used from childhood through the lifespan, and are also helpful for cats and dogs.
