The Saved Seed, written by Brenda Moore and illustrated by Emily Lackey, is now displayed on the Peter’s Rock Park trail for families to enjoy. The book, published by The National Garden Clubs, Inc., can be read page by page while walking along the trail. The StoryWalk at the park is sponsored by Peter’s Rock Park Association, Daytime Gardeners of North Haven, and the North Haven Memorial Library, to encourage families to enjoy outdoor activity while also being engaged in an educational experience. This year’s story shows children that seeds come from the parent plant and can be saved through the year to grow the following spring. The story includes information about planting and growing seeds, conservation, composting, pollination, and garden maintenance. We hope you will enjoy hiking the rock, and reading along the way!
The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of CT, Inc, the New England Garden Clubs, Inc., and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. New members are always welcome. Please contact Daytime Gardeners for more information at (203) 239-1557.
