Gardening with Praying Mantis, and Other Organic Techniques

Are you using organic gardening techniques to grow your vegetables, or do you want to, but need more help with ideas on how to do this successfully? The Daytime Gardeners are offering an opportunity to learn more on this topic from Frankie Muzio, North Haven’s organic gardener who provided the produce for the recent Farm to Table Dinner. Frankie will discuss how to use Praying Mantis in your gardens to control predatory insects that damage your crops. Frankie supports the praying mantis on his farm by avoiding chemical sprays and harvesting the egg pods to winter over in safe conditions. Additional organic gardening techniques will be discussed, and you can come with questions about your own gardening problems to see if Frankie might have a solution!

This is sure to be a fascinating discussion, so join us on September 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the North Haven Recreation Center, 7 Linsley Avenue. Come prepared with your questions and a notepad!
