Gun Found In Backseat During Traffic Stop: North Haven Police
The driver was arrested after the traffic stop, according to police.
NORTH HAVEN, CT — An 18-year-old New Haven resident was arrested Monday after police said they found an unregistered gun in the backseat during a traffic stop in North Haven.
Police said that at about 7 p.m., an officer working on a distracted driving assignment on Quinnipiac Avenue saw a vehicle with equipment and moving violations. After stopping the vehicle, police found that it was unregistered and wasn’t insured.
A gun was found in the backseat while the vehicle was being inventoried for impound, police said.

Charles Anthony Phillips Jr. was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, weapon in vehicle, no insurance, misuse of plate, unregistered motor vehicle and driving permit violation(s).
