Happy Mother’s Day From Robin Toni

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Robin Toni's letter to her mom:

Dear Mom,

A child is not born knowing right from wrong. Your exemplary behavior as my mother gave me my moral compass. You showered me with the true meaning of gratitude and love. How special you are. How lucky I am! I am grateful and blessed to have a mother like you — my teacher, my role model, my friend.

You never said to me, "Robin, you must be a grateful." The message reached me through your example. When you received a gift, I observed you writing a thank-you note. I observed your gratitude for your friendships; your gracious manner of saying thank you to the saleswoman for her help; your show of gratitude to my dad; your gratitude for your children; your strictness in teaching me the value of monetary possessions; and the advice that if you go through life with one true friend, you should consider yourself lucky!

I hope to pass on at least half of the love and knowledge you have given to me to my girls. Because of your shining example of what a role model truly is, I have become the person I am today. I owe this to you, mom! Thank you!
