Husband Delivers Baby At North Haven Home On Christmas Eve: PD

A North Haven dispatcher helped talk the woman's husband through the birthing process for an emergency delivery on Christmas Eve, police say

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven police dispatcher is being credited with helping to deliver a baby on Christmas Eve by talking the woman’s husband through the process, according to officials.

Dispatcher Roseanne Casteel received a 911 call on Dec. 24 regarding a woman going into labor and about to deliver a baby in her home, according to police.

“Dispatcher Casteel took the 911 call and immediately began to talk the woman's husband through the birthing process,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “While on the call the woman giving birth was screaming loudly and her husband was noticeably in a panic. During this call Dispatcher Casteel was able to remain calm, use her training, and talk the woman's husband through the delivery step by step. We believe the manner in which Dispatcher Casteel handled this incident as well as the instructions she gave helped this man deliver the baby, and care adequately for the baby until the fire department personnel arrived on scene.
