Meet Patricia Brown: Democratic Candidate for Board of Finance

Currently serving on the Board of Finance, she excels at developing and managing budgets, collecting and analyzing data, and listening.

Patricia “Pat” Brown is a 26-year resident of North Haven and currently is serving on the Board of Finance. She has been on the Board since 2007. She excels at developing and managing budgets, collecting and analyzing data, listening, and diplomacy -- and does it all with a sense of humor. She looks forward to being reelected to the North Haven Board of Finance and will continue to combine her diplomacy and business acumen while advocating for the citizens of North Haven.

Pat’s community service includes chairing committees to raise funds for the Special Olympics World Games and AIDS programs. She has worked with the ACLU-CT on a research project focusing on police accountability and designed and organized the annual Earth Day exhibits at the North Haven High School. Currently, Pat is working on a promising project with the First Selectman’s office and a relatively new theater group in the area. When the components come together, North Haven could have a dinner theater.

Her political service includes membership on the North Haven Democratic Town Committee where she served as treasurer. Pat was the treasurer for the public-financed state representative race in 2018. She also is a member of the Open Space Advisory Committee.

Pat has held administrative positions at City of Hope National Medical Center, UCLA Medical School, UCLA AIDS Institute and Yale University. As a research associate at NASA, she participated in the first joint US-Russian spaceflight as NASA’s gastric ulcer specialist.

Pat’s educational background includes a B.A. in psychology and business and an M.A. in physiological psychology from a California State University. NASA supported her graduate research through grant proposals and budgets she developed. The research effort produced an M.A. thesis, two patents, NASA special achievement awards and numerous scientific publications.

Pat brings to the Board of Finance an extensive history of managing finances, preparing budgets with multiple funding sources, overseeing construction projects and negotiating contracts and services. She is adept at streamlining operations and reducing costs.

In her spare time, Pat enjoys walking her dog, reading, road trips and talking with friends.
