Modified Summer Concert Series Announced In North Haven

The concerts will be held at a new location with a few changes, officials announced.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven is offering concert goers an alternative version of the town’s summer concerts, First Selectman Michael J. Freda announced Friday. The modified concert series will begin Tuesday, July 21 at a new location with a few changes. The concerts will be held on the North Haven Fair Grounds due to concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

The performers will be live on the show mobile stage and their music will be both amplified over a sound system and played on local FM radio, according to officials.

“There will have to be rules in place that we are asking our residents to follow,” officials wrote in a news release. “There will be no food trucks or vendors and attendees will be required to stay in their cars during the performances.”

Cars will arrive and exit via Washington Avenue. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Cars will be parked on a first-come, first-served basis until parking capacity is reached.

“We know that the summer concerts are a big favorite in town and we wanted to provide our residents the option to come out and hear their admired bands,” Freda said. “Although we have made changes to the venue, the North Haven Fair Grounds helped us provide a greater opportunity to protect our residents by allowing a drive-in format as opposed to potentially having several thousand people on the Town Green. We felt this change was necessary for the health and safety of our residents.”
