New Boys’ Basketball Coach Named At North Haven High School

Dan Oglesby, the state's all-time leading prep scorer and a former assistant coach at Hamden Hall, was named head coach at North Haven High.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Dan Oglesby has been named the new boys’ basketball coach at North Haven High School, Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal announced on Monday.

Oglesby is coming to North Haven after being an assistant coach at Hamden Hall for seven years, including two years as associate head coach. During his time there, Hamden Hall won a Class B New England Championship, had its best record in school history, won back to back Fairchester League championships and had several players earn scholarships to play college basketball, according to Blumenthal.

Oglesby also played his high school basketball at Hamden Hall where the team won four Class D New England championships and he is the state’s all-time leading prep scorer.

“Coach Oglesby brings an enthusiasm and knowledge about coaching and basketball that will bring the boys’ basketball program to the next level,” Blumenthal said. “We are very much looking forward to having Coach Oglesby and his staff get started with the team. He will do great things here at North Haven.”

Oglesby earned a scholarship to the University of South Florida, and later transferred to Fairfield University, where he finished his playing career and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in sociology. He also has a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism from The Sage Colleges in Troy, New York.
