New Boys Soccer Coach Named At North Haven High School

Longtime coach John Parisella has been appointed to lead North Haven High School's boys soccer program.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — John Parisella has been named the new head coach for the North Haven High School boys’ varsity soccer team, officials announced Tuesday.

Parisella, a product of North Haven public schools, has more than 35 years of experience as a soccer coach at the high school and youth levels, according to North Haven Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal.

Parisella graduated Eastern Connecticut State University as a four-year player and quickly immersed himself into the coaching world. He took on the assistant coach and junior varsity coach position at North Haven High School in the fall of 1985 under Joe Janush.

Since then, Parisella has coached all age groups in the North Haven Soccer Club. He has been the NHSC Director of Coaching for the past 15 years and he has been the assistant varsity coach for North Haven High School the past four years, according to Blumenthal.

In 2019, Parisella was recognized as the CJSA Coach of the Year.

“Coach Parisella brings a wealth of coaching experience and knowledge of the game to the North Haven boys’ soccer program,” Blumenthal said. “We are excited to have Coach Parisella instill a competitive culture in which players are held accountable in all aspects of their experience. We look forward to Coach Parisella getting started.”
