New Lacrosse Coach Hired In North Haven

The coach was one of the founding members of the girls' youth program in North Haven.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Bernie Pellegrino has been named the new head coach of the North Haven High School varsity girls’ lacrosse team, officials announced this week. Pellegrino has been involved in the school’s girls’ lacrosse program since 2014, serving as the junior varsity coach for one year before becoming the assistant head coach of the varsity team.

Prior to being involved in the high school program, Pellegrino was one of the founding members of the girls’ youth program in town and coached at that level for six years. He is the former vice president of the North Haven Lacrosse Club, Inc.

“We are excited to have Coach Pellegrino as the head coach of the girls’ lacrosse program,” Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal said. “He is passionate about coaching lacrosse and about providing a positive experience to the North Haven girls’ lacrosse athletes. We are confident that there will be a great future for the North Haven High School girls’ lacrosse program under the direction of Coach Pellegrino.”

Pellegrino is a 1985 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his law degree, with honors, at Boston College Law School in 1988. He is a practicing attorney and a partner with The Pellegrino Law Firm, P.C. in New Haven. He was born and raised in North Haven. He and his wife Karen raised their three children in town where they all attended public schools and graduated from North Haven High School.
