North Haven Coronavirus Update: 77 Confirmed Cases, 48 New

The number of positive cases in New Haven has more than doubled over the past week while the state's caseload, death toll continues to rise.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus has more than doubled in North Haven in the past week, according to data from state health officials. As of Tuesday, there are now 77 cases in North Haven as opposed to just 29 on April 6. Statewide, the number of positive cases jumped to 13,381 on Monday – an increase of 1,346 and the statewide death toll grew to 601, which represents an increase of 48 from Sunday.

In New Haven County alone, there are now 3,358 cases and 135 deaths while 580 people remain hospitalized. According to state health officials, New Haven County’s caseload trails only Fairfield County, where there are 6,004 known confirmed cases (44.8 percent of the statewide total) and 262 deaths.

At least four cases locally have been linked to a North Haven Amazon distribution center, where at least four people have tested positive, according to a Harford Courant report last week.
