NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven police officer was recently honored for saving a baby’s life at the Cinemark Movie theater in March. Det. Michael Harton was presented with a Meritorious Service Award by the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut (PCAC) during its annual awards dinner last week at Vazzy's Four Seasons Restaurant in Stratford.

Each year, the PCAC recognizes police officers who have gone “above and beyond” the line of duty with a Meritorious Service Award. New officers who finished first in their classes in the POSTC academy sessions since the last dinner were also honored.

Harton was working detail at the Cinemark Movie theater on Universal Drive on March 3 when a woman rushed out of a theater with a newborn baby who wasn’t breathing. Harton immediately stepped into action.
