Obituary: Carmine A. 'Chip' Hillo, 74, of North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT - (From North Haven Funeral Home) Carmine A. “Chip” Hillo, 74, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford.

He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Joan Sansone Hillo. Chip was born in New Haven on October 1, 1946 and was the son of the late Frank and Mary Liguori Hillo.

He served his country faithfully in the US Navy. He was a former member of Pine Grove Men’s Club. Chip had worked as a barber in the Navy and continued in the profession after his honorable discharge from the military for many years.

He was a self-employed carpenter, later a driver for the former Airborne Express, now DHL Express and the Whitney Center in Hamden.

Chip was an avid New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Penguins fan and enjoyed many trips to Italy.

Father of Angela (Bill) Dawson and the late Craig Hillo. Grandfather of Eli, Caleb, and Charlee Dawson. Brother of Maria (Peter) Stevenson, Andrew “Chick” (Rochelle) Carrano and the late Donald Carrano.

Loving Papa of Paige Licata. Also survived by his beloved “Dolly”, Arianna DeMatteo, nephew Peter (Jennifer) Stevenson, niece Kimberly Stevenson, and great-niece Isabella Stevenson.
