Obituary: John S. Lion, 98, of North Haven
John was a proud U.S. Army WWII Veteran and worked as a purchasing agent for Union and New Haven Trust Company for 35 years.
NORTH HAVEN, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) john S. Lion, 98 of North Haven, formerly of Hamden died peacefully at Connecticut Hospice, Branford on Thursday, January 21, 2021 with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of 74 years to Emelda B. St. Arnault Lion.
John was born in West Haven on June 24, 1922, a son of the late Peter and Alice Simoni Lion, and had resided in Hamden for fifty years before moving to North Haven in 2010.
He was a purchasing agent for Union and New Haven Trust Company for 35 years, retiring in 1987. John was a proud U.S. Army WWII Veteran and fought in the Pacific Theatre.
In addition to his wife Emelda, John is survived by two daughters, Dianne Lion of Cheshire and Jeanne Cavadini, and her husband Michael Friscia of North Haven, one sister, Justina Leary of Middletown, two brothers, Daniel Lion and his wife Alberta of Hamden and Dominic Lion and his wife Marylou of North Haven.
He is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Joseph and Peter Lion, Sr.
A Celebration of Life Service followed by Military Honors will take place at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven on Sunday, June 20th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Burial will be private.
