Experts to discuss 'COVID-19 Vaccines: Empowering Our Communities and Informing Your Decisions, Part III' at Quinnipiac webinar

NORTH HAVEN, CT – A diverse group of experts, including Dr. Khuram Ghumman, past president of the Hartford County Medical Association and a member of the Governor’s COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Group’s allocation subcommittee, will take part in the panel discussion, “COVID-19 Vaccines: Empowering Our Communities and Informing Your Decisions, Part III,” at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24.


The virtual event, co-sponsored by Quinnipiac University and its School of Health Sciences, is free and open to the public.

Janelle Chiasera, dean of the School of Health Sciences, will moderate the discussion.

“With the rapid changes we are seeing with the virus, and challenges and confusion around the vaccines and their distribution, we are so happy to be able to provide our community with sound scientific knowledge and data-driven guidance on something as pressing and confusing as COVID,” Chiasera said.

Among the topics to be addressed are:
· COVID vaccines
· Variants
· Vaccine distribution, supply and demand
· Vaccine dosing, timing, side effects and guidelines
· Vaccine questions and concerns
· Updates to prevention guidelines

The panel also will include Quinnipiac’s Lisa Cuchara, professor of biomedical sciences; Jeffrey Mital, associate professor of biomedical sciences; John Thomas, professor of law; and Mario Norbis, professor of management.
