Police Warn Of Phone Scam In North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven police are warning residents of a phone scam in which the automated call asks for social security information.

The caller ID shows North Haven Police in the scam.

“North Haven Police wish to remind everyone we would never contact you over the phone and request your social security number,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “We have received reports of an automated call which prompts the recipient to hit a number to speak with an agent, in regard to action being taken on their social security number. The caller ID came up as No. Haven Police.

“This is not us. We will never ask you for your social security number over the phone. Be wary of scams like this and others, which often claim to be IRS or Federal Agents.”
