NORTH HAVEN, CT — A popular wedding and banquet facility in North Haven has abruptly closed its doors for good. The owners of Fantasia Wedding and Banquet Facility, 404 Washington Ave., announced the venue was officially closing this week after more than 20 years in business.

“It greatly saddens me to write this,” reads a post on the facility’s Facebook page. “After 20 plus years in business, Fantasia Wedding and Banquet Facility will be officially closing its doors as of July 1st, 2020.

“A Special Thank You to all of you who have supported us over the years. Words can not describe how grateful we are for your business and referrals. We will miss you all.”

Fantasia was still booking events in March and its most recent post, before announcing the closure, was regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

“We hope everyone stays safe and healthy during the quarantine,” the post from mid-March read. “Our hearts go out to anyone affected by the Covid 19 virus. Please stay tuned for updates for Fantasia. Thank you for your continued support!”

The news of the venue’s closing took many people by surprise, including a woman who had her wedding planned there for October, according to WFSB 3.

Ashley Ramos told WFSB 3 that an event coordinator recently alerted her about changes to her October wedding, so they would comply with health guidelines. However, she said she never received any notice about Fantasia closing.
