New Details on Large Storm In Norwich’s Forecast Early Next Week
A strong weather system is heading our way, and here's the latest details on what we can expect.

For a winter weekend in February to feature sunny skies and temps near 40 degrees, especially on Sunday, has led NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan to call it an “awesome” weekend. Then all eyes turn to a significant storm that will impact Connecticut Tuesday and Wednesday. Some towns may still see snow flurries Sunday but it won’t stick and won’t adversely impact your Super Bowl plans.
Details of what to expect from the storm aren’t completely known yet, but the initial thinking is that there will be some snow and mixed precipitation on Tuesday and then a changeover to a heavy wind soaked rain later on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
Areas along the coast would see only a brief period of snow and sleet before the changeover to plain rain. Inland areas would see a greater period of mixed precipitation on Tuesday, though everyone will be dealing with rain on Wednesday as temps could approach 60 degrees in sports.

Hanrahan on his Facebook page wrote, “The weekend is looking awesome! An area of low pressure cuts to the west of us on Sunday bringing in milder air with temperatures around 40F. A stray flurry not out of the question.”
Concerning the potential big storm next week, it continues to “look very impressive,” Hanrahan wrote Thursday on his blog, which you can read here. “...temperatures could approach the 60 degree mark along with periods of heavy rain and damaging winds. It would be quite a storm.”

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Kevin Arnone wrote on News 8 that “Our weather models are still battling back and forth with agreement but early predictions are for snow/mix moving in Tuesday daybreak but quickly changing over to rain for the shoreline and the “rain/snow” line will advance towards the north and by Wednesday the entire state of Connecticut is seeing rain.”
He added that the storm could produce 1-2 inches of snow, sleet and rain before it ends.
