Norwich Chef Appears On Food Network's 'Chopped'
The chef of a Norwich restaurant recently made an appearance on a popular program.
NORWICH, CT — Chef Julio Cancho recently appeared on the Food Network Show "Chopped," which he called a "good learning experience," according to The Day. The episode Cancho appeared on was "Skilfish Coping Skills" and was recorded in 2019.
Cancho is the chef and owner of Peruvian Canggio Restaurant at 20 Lafayette St.
In the Food Network show, four chefs face off against one another. They are given a set amount of time to come up with an appetizer, entree and dessert using specific ingredients.

Then the judges rate the dishes based on creativity, presentation and taste. The winner gets a $10,000 prize, while the other chefs are chopped from the competition.
On the "Chopped" episode Cancho appeared in, he made a scallop ceviche that the judges liked, but was eliminated in the first round, The Day reported.

Cancho's Norwich restaurant has garnered a 4.5-star rating on Yelp. One reviewer said: "Excellent food full of flavor! Any trip to eastern Connecticut requires a stop here. Service was amazing as well. Definitely try the ceviche and paella."
