Norwich Free Academy Athlete Breaks State Open Record
A Wildcat established a new State Open mark Saturday at the indoor track championships in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Four new records were established Saturday at the State Open indoor track championships at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.
Suffield's boys 4 x 800 relay team of Cam Miller, Jared Sharp, Kyle Englander and Nick Sinofsky became the first Connecticut team to run under eight minutes, finishing in 7:59.84 to shatter the previous best of 8:03.89, set by Trumbull in 2016.
The 1,600 meter sprint relay team from Hall, consisting of Joseph Morin, Yovan Rivera, Isaiah Lizardi and Miller Anderson, finished in 3:34.06 to eclipse the previous standard of 3:37.34, set by Danbury in 2009.

On the girls' side, Terry Miller of Bloomfield ran the 55 meters in 6.95, beating the 6.99 posted by former Warhawk Cassidy Palmer two years ago.
Paige Martin of Norwich Free Academy cleared 12 feet, one-half inch in the pole vault, breaking the record of 12 feet set by Jenna Calandro of Newtown in 2014 and matched by AmyErin Zadroga of Tolland in 2017.

Team champions were Hall boys, which broke Danbury's three-year stranglehold on the top spot with 43 points to 38 for runner-up Hillhouse, and Bloomfield girls, whose 54 points far outdistanced the 39 of second-place Glastonbury.
Miller was the only double winner of individual events, capturing the 300 meter run in addition to the 55.
