Norwich Man Faces Federal Threatening Charges

A Norwich man is facing federal charges after he was accused of threatening to kill a Bronx woman.

NORWICH, CT — A Norwich man is facing federal charges that he threatened to kill a woman, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. Daniel Scott, 31, is accused of making threatening calls and sending threatening text messages to a woman in the Bronx after she said she wasn't interested in having a romantic relationship with him.

Scott made specific threats to harm the victim in the messages, including saying that he would travel to the victim's gym, where she worked, and “…shoot tha whole gym up an end all of us,” according to the statement.

The victim called 9-1-1 and Scott was arrested by the New York Police Department. Scott is currently detained in New York on domestic violence-related charges.

Scott has two prior federal convictions for narcotics distribution offenses, and he is currently on federal supervised release.

The charge of making threatening communications carries a maximum term of imprisonment of five years.
