Norwich Methadone Clinic's Temporary Closure Presents Challenges
The move will temporarily displace more than 500 patients who use the facility.

NORWICH, CT — Norwich's only methadone clinic is set to close for several months for renovations, a move that will force more than 500 patients of the facility to travel to other communities for treatment, writes The Day.
The Root Center for Advanced Recovery, which operates the West Thames Street clinic, also runs clinics in New London and Willimantic, and officials have said that Norwich patients could use one of those locations until repairs are completed.
But despite the availability of the two out-of-town clinics, traveling to either one will pose a serious challenge to many of the Norwich patients, and to the local health agencies and human services programs that support those patients.
