Suspected Killer's Mother: 'My Son Was Set-Up'
Alethea Gilliam created a legal fund for son Louis Seignious. Police say he killed his cousin Vincent Sebastian and is wanted for murder.

NORWICH, CT — The mother of accused killer Louis Seignious claims in a GoFundMe campaign to raise $10,000 for a lawyer for her son that he was "set up." She appears to implicate him in the fatal shooting in Westerly, RI last weekend that had multiple police agencies searching for him since. Police say they believe he is still in the area, likely on Mashantucket Tribal land.
Vincent A. Sebastian III, 28, of Ledyard, died from a single gunshot wound to his chest in a Westerly apartment on the night of Jan. 25. Seignious, 31, of Norwich, is the accused shooter, police say, and he was chased by Tribal police after crossing Rhode Island into Connecticut headed toward the reservation. He bailed out of the car and fled on foot.
Westerly, Ledyard, Groton, Stonington, and Mashantucket Tribal Police were that night, and since, involved in the hunt for Seignious.

When asked to comment on the GoFundMe story written by Seignious' mother Alethea Gilliam, also known as Alethea Boyd, Westerly Police Chief Shawn Lacey said that his investigators are working with Mashantucket Tribal and Ledyard Police to "pursue leads."
"We are still pursuing the suspect and we're tracking down any leads we get as we still believe he's potentially in the area in on the reservation," Lacey said, adding that police have gotten leads that he's left the area and possibly the state, and are "monitoring all social networking sites of any activity between family members to confirm" accounts and his possible whereabouts.

The public account that his mother wrote and posted on GoFundMe Thursday was, as of Friday morning, still on the site. Patch took screenshots of the post. In it she makes many claims which cannot be verified including allegations of corruption she alleges her son was trying to uncover and claims that he was "set up" and used as a "pawn."
There were no pledges of donations toward her $10,000 legal fund goal.
She says her son was called to the Marriott Avenue house and was "ambushed" and that as a result, Sebastian was killed.
She says her son needs the money for a private attorney and not a "public pretender" meaning a public defender. She says she will do "anything and everything to help his case so that when it does come forth he will have proper representation ..."
She wrote, "I know this GoFundMe account is going to anger a lot of people but I don’t care. I know they’re saying how dare she; how could she? My answer to that how could I not? How could I not do everything I possibly can to help my son. Wouldn’t you do all you can for yours?"
