Mail Stolen From Mailboxes In Orange: Police

Police ask residents to be careful when leaving outgoing mail in mailboxes following reported thefts in town.

ORANGE, CT — Police said they have received reports of mail being stolen in town and ask residents to be careful when leaving outgoing mail in mailboxes.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police said the department has received complaints over the past few weeks regarding outgoing mail being stolen from residents' curbside mailboxes.

According to police, each resident who reported thefts had left their mailbox flag up to notify the mail carrier of outgoing mail. They were later alerted to the thefts after personal checks were "washed" and cashed by individuals for several thousands of dollars.
