Opening Day Looms for Amity Regional High School Teams

WOODBRIDGE, CT — High school sports practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks and preseason scrimmages are in full swing, but the real deal begins Thursday - opening day of the regular season for many varsity teams.

Here are the scheduled opening contests for varsity teams at Amity Regional High School. For a complete season schedule of Spartan varsity, JV and freshman teams, visit the CIAC web site.

• boys soccer - Thursday, 9/6, at Shelton, 4:30 p.m.
• girls swimming - Thursday, 9/6, at Mercy, 7 p.m.
• girls cross country - Friday, 9/7, Black and Gold, 3:30 p.m.
• girls volleyball - Friday, 9/7, vs. Branford, 5:30 p.m.
• football - Friday, 9/7, at Harding, 7 p.m.
• field hockey - Saturday, 9/8, at North Branford, 10:30 a.m.
• girls soccer - Saturday, 9/8, at Newtown, noon
• boys cross country - Wednesday, 9/12, at Notre Dame-West Haven, 4 p.m.
