Orange To Vote Whether To Buy Race Brook Country Club: Report
The town has scheduled a vote for Feb. 16.

ORANGE, CT — Orange residents will have a say next month on whether the town should spend $8.5 million to acquire the Race Brook Country Club property on Derby Avenue.
The town has scheduled a vote on Feb. 16 on whether to buy the 287-acre property, which includes a 27-hole golf course, driving range and multiple buildings, reports the New Haven Register.
First Selectman Jim Zeoli and the Board of Selectmen support the acquisition, in part because once acquired, the town would lease the property back to the country club to operate it.

Some residents have expressed reservations about the potential purchase, liking it to Woodbridge's acquisition of the Woodbridge Country Club property, according to the publication.
That 150-acre property, bought for $7 million in 2009, is closed, having had failures of both a golf course and a pool.
