Popular TV Meteorologist Leaves Station, Starts Own Weather Site
Kevin Arnone's last day at Channel 8 was Monday but he is starting his own weather website right in his home of Connecticut.

Popular WTNH-TV meteorologist Kevin Arnone may be leaving Channel 8, as he announced to his loyal followers on Facebook last week, but he isn't leaving weather forecasting. He's starting his own weather website.
Arnone, on his Facebook page Tuesday morning, made the following announcement:
"Good morning everyone! We have some snow on the way tonight. For my latest forecast, check out my new weather website > https://www.exactweathernow.com”

In a follow-up interview Tuesday morning, Arnone told Patch a bit more about his new venture - and reflected on his years at WTNH.
Arnone, who grew up in Orange, was a graduate of Amity High School and studied meteorology at Western Connecticut State University, said: "I had a great 4 years at WTNH and can't thank my managers and coworkers enough for the great experience and opportunity.

"The viewers have been amazing and I'd like to thank each and everyone of them for the support and well wishes. My wife Katie and I are looking forward to a new adventure and we're excited to see where life takes us," Arnone added.
Arnone said he's been overwhelmed by the positive comments he's received on social media since he broke the news last week of his departure.
"It's something I never could have dreamed of. Everyday there are 100's of new comments and messages. I can't keep up with it but It puts the biggest smile on my face knowing I've left a positive impact on so many people just doing something that I love!," said Arnone.
As far as starting the weather website, Arnone explained: "I love to forecast weather, I love Connecticut and no matter where my career takes me I want to make sure I can still be apart and make an impact on the viewers that helped me get my career started. "
As to how the website will pay the bills, Arnone answered: "My eventual plan is to make it a very affordable subscription base. I'm also in the works of adding a private section for business owners such as construction/plows/landscape etc. where they can receive private forecast to their EXACT location! If anyone wants to advertise, I'd gladly add them to my site."
As far as the future, Arnone is keeping his options open.
"I don't know where my career will take me next, but I'm excited to find out and start a long lasting career at another station doing what I love, forecasting weather!"
