Developer Waiting on OSTA Approval to Begin Construction at Oxford Town Center

The Oxford Town Center will include retail, residential and recreational space.

Haynes Development is waiting on approval from the Office of the State Traffic Administration for a traffic light to be installed at the entrance of the Oxford Town Center project, the Republican-American reports.

Once the developer receives OSTA approval, Price Chopper will be able to obtain building permits and begin construction in late winter or early Spring. According to the paper, Market32 by Price Chopper will be the anchor tenant at the plaza.

The center will be located at the Haynes Quarry at 278 Oxford Road, Route 67.

The project will have retail space, a green and a marketplace as well as residential space, the paper reports. There are also plans to create space for the Oxford Public Library in the center.

According to the Connecticut Post, this is the biggest development in Oxford history. The space will fill 32 acres, is expected to cost at least $70 million and generate $870,000 annually in tax revenue. The project is also expected to create roughly 250 permanent and 300 temporary jobs.
