2nd Arrest Made In AT&T False Account Scheme
An East Haven man is the second employee of a major communications company to be charged with first-degree larceny.

ROCKY HILL, CT — An East Haven man is the second employee of a major communications company to be charged with first-degree larceny in a scheme to set up fake accounts in order to get promotional items, state police said.
Arvydas Samis, 33, of East Haven was arrested Thursday, state police said.
Jose Luis Lopez, 32, of West Haven, was taken into custody via a warrant on Wednesday after surrendering to state police, an arrest report indicates. He posted a $75,000 bond and is due in court on March 15, according an an arrest report.

Samis' Bond was also set at $75,000 and he was to appear in court Thursday, according to a report.
According to an arrest report, the men, while employed by AT&T, created "fraudulent customer accounts" in order to obtain "numerous" smart phones and tablets. They then sold the devices to a third party, according to an arrest report.

State police put no dollar amount on the transactions, but the charge in Connecticut is a Class B felony and comes with thefts valued at more than $20,000.
AT&T has a facility at 500 Enterprise Drive in Rocky Hill.
