Booth was an accomplished athlete and honors student when he graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 2004, reports the Hartford Courant. He graduated from Keene State College and owns a home in Windsor Locks, but moved to Nashville earlier this year.

His mother, Jo-Anne Kagan Booth, lives in Rocky Hill and had been quoted before the finale as saying, “We’re very excited for him. I think he did something really daring. I would think it would be hard to do something like that, go on a national show. I think it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I think it is great.”
