CT Trooper Arrested On Fraud Charges: State
A state trooper was arrested on accusations that he fraudulently collected wages while out on disability leave.
MOOSUP, CT — A Moosup man was arrested on charges that he illegally collected workers' compensation benefits while being employed as a Connecticut state trooper, according to a statement from the state. Kelvin Moore, 41, of 21 Simmons Ave., was arrested on one count of fraudulent claim or receipt of benefits and one count of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community.
According to an arrest warrant, in July 2019, Moore suffered a back injury on the job and was placed on temporary disability status by his doctor. He was able to claim wage replacement benefits paid by the employer's workers' compensation insurance carrier, which in this case was the state.
Surveillance by investigators found that while Moore was on paid leave, he did things inconsistent with having an injury, including owning and running a T-shirt silk screening business, Four82.
