Innovative Outpatient Orthopedic Surgical Center Opens

New Rocky Hill Location Puts Patient Comfort and Safety at the Forefront on Jan. 7

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH) is preparing to take outpatient surgical care to a new level of excellence with the grand opening of their new Rocky Hill Surgery Center. The Center will officially open on January 7th.

The approximately $30 million facility provides the latest advancements in patient care, is environmentally responsible, resource efficient, and truly unparalleled in the state, if not the nation. It is located at 150 Enterprise Drive and is conveniently located off I-91. It replaces the former OAH Rocky Hill location at 1111 Cromwell Avenue.

Kicking off the new year, OAH surgeons and surgeons from the Hand Center will perform shoulder, knee, and hip replacements, spine surgery, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, hand, wrist, elbow, foot, and ankle surgery, and interventional pain procedures to relieve pain and restore function. The majority of procedures that were previously done in an inpatient facility will now be performed in an outpatient setting.

The 48,000 sq. ft. facility has an entire level dedicated to surgery and a lower level of office suites and physical therapy. Key aspects include:

  • Serving as a Center of Excellence where outpatient spine surgery, total joint replacements, and all orthopedic surgeries will be performed.
  • 7 extra-large operating rooms and a procedure room fitted with the most advanced surgical camera systems, video streaming, robotic technology, and wireless connectivity.
  • Every detail designed to enhance patient comfort, with the goal to increase the practice’s 98% positive patient experience rating.
  • Utilization of the most advanced sterilization equipment and technology on the market, allowing the center to keep infection rates near zero.

Dr. Andrew Caputo, one of the co-owner project managers of the new surgical center explains, “The center was created with one goal – to make this a place where patients would want to come, doctors would want to operate, and employees would want to work.”

On February 22nd, there will be an official grand opening and ribbon cutting that will be held in partnership with the Rocky Hill Chamber of Commerce. It will be for invited guests. Medical providers and local leaders from throughout the region are invited to take a guided or self-guided tour of the state-of-the-art operating facilities, patient-centric step-down unit, and full-service physical therapy center to learn about the scope of services available at the new center.

“Our specialists and the surgery center team are looking forward to meeting fellow members of the medical community and sharing all that our groundbreaking center has to offer,” said Dr. Pietro Memmo, the other co-owner project manager of the surgery center, who has been overseeing all aspects from design through completion.
