Man, 24, Dies After Roof Collapse In Rocky Hill: UPDATE

The victim was working on the roof construction when it collapsed Tuesday afternoon in Rocky Hill, according to police.

ROCKY HILL, CT — The victim involved in the roof collapse on Evans Road in Rocky Hill was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital, police said in an update late Tuesday night. He has been identified as Jorge Alberto Mendoza, 24, of Waterbury, according to Sgt. Steve Morgan.

Emergency crews responded to 24 Evans Rd. around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a roof collapse during construction. Mendoza was working on the roof construction when it collapsed, according to Morgan.

Mendoza was extricated from the roof by the Rocky Hill Fire Department and taken to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Rocky Hill Building Department, along with OSHA, were called to the scene to assist with the investigation, Morgan said.

The cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
