Mailman Who Saved 95-Year-Old's Life Honored Monday

Spider Man may not deliver your mail, but if the mailman saves your life, you won't care.

Rocky Hill Post Office is honoring a mail carrier who rescued a 95-year-old after the elderly man had fallen on the cold ground and lain there for hours.

U.S. Postal Service officials will be at the Rocky Hill Post Office, 32 Church St., at 8:30 a.m. Monday to honor Kenneth Stewart. The U.S. Postal Service sent this news release to announce the ceremony:

"Inspired by limited edition Priority Mail boxes featuring The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie [here's the commercial with Spidey], the U.S. Postal Service is honoring postal employees who have demonstrated heroism or extraordinary community service.

"Mr. Stewart provided assistance to a customer on his route when he found the 95-year-old gentleman on the ground in the cold after he had fallen trying to pick up his newspaper.

"The customer spent hours incapacitated in the cold and the letter carrier’s quick call to 911 resulted in his hospitalization and eventual recovery. The customer’s son sent a letter crediting the letter carrier with saving his life.
