Nutmeg Board Chair Elected to Prestigious C.U. Association Board
Dr. Luis Ramos Tapped for the Board of the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen

Dr. Luis Ramos, Board Chair of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, has been elected to a three year term on the Board of the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen (NACUC). Dr. Ramos has served as Chairman of Nutmeg since 2014. The credit union is headquartered in Rocky Hill with ten branches across the state and is opening their next location in North Haven, CT. This location will include DMV Express services, the second such location to feature these services.
Nutmeg is a full-service, community credit union which serves nearly 39,000 members and holds more than $457 million in assets.
“With over 30 years of leadership and technical experience, Dr. Ramos has brought a new depth to the role of Chairman of the Board for Nutmeg and he will be a tremendous asset to this prestigious national board,” said John Holt, President and CEO of Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union. “He has played a key role in moving the credit union forward.”
Dr. Ramos of Columbia, CT began volunteering at Nutmeg in 1998, first as a Supervisory Committee member. Prior to his election as Chairman, he was elected to the Board of Directors in 2008 and immediately voted Board Secretary, a role he held until 2010, when he became Board Vice Chairman until 2014. He previously served as Supervisory Committee Chair from 2005 to 2008; and Member of the Supervisory Committee from 1998 to 2005.
In April 2018, Dr. Ramos was honored for his outstanding dedication to the credit union movement as the winner of the prestigious Credit Union Volunteer Recognition Award. This national award is given to volunteer Board or Supervisory members who have gone above and beyond their required duties to help members, credit union employees, or the credit union movement as a whole.

His career has expanded since 1984 when he joined Southern New England Telephone (SNET). Dr. Ramos has been a Certified Faculty Member at the University Of Phoenix School Of Business since 2008, teaching graduate business courses. He holds a BA in Management, an MBA in Organizational Leadership and is a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Information Systems and Technology (DMIST).
In his new role, Dr. Ramos joins four other NACUC board members who are currently serving, or have served, as chairman of their credit union’s board of directors. Headquartered in Del Mar, California, the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen is the only national trade association dedicated to the development of credit union chairmen through unique, high-level education and networking programs.
