Rocky Hill now advances to the District 7 final game against Newington on Friday July 12.

"This is a pretty happy go lucky group of kids," Rocky Hill coach Pat Robb said. "They play better when they are in front and leading the game. I have seen all of them grow as the all-star experience has gone on. They have become better teammates and better baseball players.

Rocky Hill went 6-2 in the pool play, losing to Wethersfield and East Hartford. That made the win over Wethersfield that much sweeter on Tuesday night. The locals beat Newington in their only meeting this post-season by a 4-2 margin.

"When we played Newington it was a well-played and well-pitched game," Robb said. "We got some timely hitting, good base running, and a complete defensive effort in order to win that game."

Robb, who is hitting .560, pitches and plays shortstop. Catcher Brent Clemens is hitting .390. Michael Walling plays first base and is hitting .470. The rest of the infield consists of second baseman Zach Mascaro, shortstop Nick Rodriquez and third baseman Chris Drisdale. The outfielders are Matt Fisher, Patrick Conlin, Joe Monti, Nick Aderhold and Kyle Glover.

Coach Robb said there have been some amazing defensive plays that have helped the team get to the title game. He said Clemens play at catcher has been stellar. He also praised a play by his son at shortstop during the semifinal win. When Wethersfield loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth inning Ryan Robb snared a hard line drive and threw to third base to complete a double play. He also added Matt Fisher has made several great catches in the outfield.

"We are a good hitting team but our defense and pitching has been good too," Coach Robb said.
